GAU Mental Health Information
GAU clients enrolled in the GAU Managed Care Program can receive mental health care. They need to ask their Primary Care Physician (PCP) for a referral to the Care Coordinator assigned to the PCP's clinic. Mental health services are coordinated with the patient's medical care.
The Care Coordinators will screen clients for mental health services. For clients determined to need services, the Care Coordinators will provide Level I services or refer clients to Level II services.
The Care Coordinators work closely with primary care providers at the clinics, as well as consult with project psychiatrists. IMPACT. The model has been changed to fit GAU clients. Here is the latest report on how well the project is working in Washington, the GA-U Mental Health Pilot Implementation Status Report.
Note: For mental health incapacity as well as physical incapacity eligibility determinations, contact the local DSHS Community Service Office (CSO). This is not part of the managed care plan. These evaluations are paid for by the CSO.
