Document Corrections

What is a Document Correction (DC)?

A Document Correction (DC), formerly known as an Issuance Correction (IC), is HRSA's notification to providers of a correction to a provider document (e.g., a Numbered Memorandum).

What kind of corrections are we talking about?

A typical correction is when HRSA needs to alter text, figures, or other information that was wrong when the document was initially published.

For example:  HRSA's reimbursement for a particular procedure code is $5.43.  A document was published that incorrectly stated, due to a typographical error, that HRSA's reimbursement was $5.34.  HRSA would post a DC to HRSA's website to notify providers of this error and subsequent correction.

How will I know when DC is done?

When HRSA has correction(s) to make to HRSA documents, HRSA posts a DC to the Document Corrections webpage on HRSA's website.  HRSA sends out a postcard notifying providers of the correction(s) the following month.

For example:
On January 5, 2005, HRSA makes a correction to Numbered Memorandum 06-98 HRSA effective for dates of service on and after January 1, 2005.  HRSA posts a DC on HRSA's website to notify providers.

A week later, HRSA makes a correction to the Oxygen and Respiratory Therapy Billing Instructions effective for dates of service on and after December 1, 2005.  HRSA posts another DC on HRSA's website to notify providers of this change.

HRSA makes no more corrections for the remainder of the month of January 2006.

On February 1, 2006, HRSA sends a postcard out notifying the affected providers that HRSA has issued two DCs for the month of January 2006.  Providers will be able to access these DCs electronically by visiting HRSA's website or can obtain a hard copy by contacting the Department of Printing.
