Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM)
In mid-April, the Department of Social and Health Services notified more than 500 Washington State Medicaid providers that they had been selected for federal PERM audits. This is the first year Washington State has participated in the PERM program, which involves federal contractors conducting reviews of Medicaid billings and payments in an effort to identify errors and overbillings. States can then use that information to help avoid those problems in the future.
This Web page is a resource for providers who have received a request to provide payment records to the PERM contractors. Some of the participating providers may not have been involved in previous Medicaid billing and payment audits.
